Cycle Route No.5

Distance

Long Route:

Climbing
 metres

Terrain
Easy to Moderate

Flat road and then gradual climbs and some satisfying descents.
The route crosses the busy A65 twice and so is not suitable for young children

Starting Point
Settle Market Place
( can also be started at Giggleswick, Eldroth, Austwick, Little Stainforth)

The route starts in Settle and runs clockwise but it's a great ride in either direction.
This road is prone to surface water after heavy rain.
The clockwise direction has gradual climbs and the anticlockwise directions has shorter but steeper climbs.
The road between Settle and Giggleswick is quite open and can be hard going against the wind,
so if there is a strong wind from the south you may want to take it anti-clockwise.

Refreshments
Settle, Giggleswick, Austwick, Little Stainforth

Make a longer day of it ...

Safety

As always make sure your bike is in good working order and that you are suitably dressed and experienced for the ride you are doing.

Make sure you have drink and snacks to suit the weather conditions.

Check your route on a map beforehand and make sure others know where you are and estimated time of arrival.

Take care crossing main roads especially at weekends and bank holidays as tourist traffic can be busy.
