Silverdale

Silverdale is a small, side dale of Ribblesdale
lying to the south of Pen-y-ghent.

Silverdale is bounded by the southern slopes of Pen-y-ghent to the west and Fountains Fell to the east.

Numerous small gills drain water of the surrounding hills into Tongue Gill which flows
in a south-west direction to join Stainforth Beck and then the River Ribble.

A minor road runs through the dale from Stainforth to Halton Gill.

Four miles along the road from Stainforth can be found
the Neolithic burial ground of Giants Graves.
